I've Got One Word For You. One Word. Plastics.
How can a company remain competitive in the face of skyrocketing material costs? Find another solution. Engineered thermoplastics can provide a cost effective alternative for many metal components.
A client had been producing a component from a specialized grade of bronze that needed to withstand intermittent temperatures up to 500 degrees. Over the life of this component, the raw material pricing rose to nearly $6.15 per pound. They needed an alternative.
Utilizing our expertise and a vast resource of thermoplastics data, we offered four material candidates with data sheets, built a single cavity mold tool and tested the different materials in the application. The customer then selected one of the candidate materials and we ramped up to production.
In addition to the cost savings our customer realized the additional benefits. The conversion to a plastic component allows us to create a snap together subassembly that simplified their assembly process and consolidated their inventory.
